Is my DD ready or not?

My DD is nearly 6 months old and over the past week i have been trying to wean her onto solids.
However even though we get a small amount down her (approx 1 table spoons worth) she is constantly crying throughout the meal and closes her mouth whilst doing so.
Is this a sign she is not ready yet or is this what all babys do? Any tips, tricks or general advice would be good please.

Maybe she wants to feed herself? Lots of babies don't like having things put in their mouths. If she's crying and wants to stop I wouldn't push it.

My dd1 was like this and it stressed me out completely. However by the time I had dd2 I had discovered baby led weaning! Search for threads about it on here - it was a complete revelation to me. Can't type much as am on phone but will try to pop back later!

I've never used purees (did baby led weaning with both DC), but a tablespoon sounds like loads for a baby who's just starting to eat.

In any case, if she crying and closing her mouth then she's clearly signaling that she really not enjoying being fed. I wouldn't push it in those circumstances.

IME the best way to test if a baby is ready to wean is to put a banana down in front of her, if she picks it up and takes a bite then she's ready.
