music to send ds back off, should I do it?

My 8 month old ds wakes regularly somewhere between 5 and half past in the morning, but from experience is still tired. For the past week or so, I have been taking the baby monitor to bed with us and when he wakes I hit the button and turn the music on that he goes to sleep to. Within 15 to 45 minutes he goes back off again, sometimes for up to an hour and an half which he needs.

My question is should I be turning the music on or not? Should I be leaving him to try and settle himself and if he doesnt we just get up. I;m just concerned that I could be doing this for a long time when he may settle himself for longer eventually.

I would carry on with the music. At different periods in childrens lives you've got to figure out what is going to work, not only for the child but for you as a family. Are you tired all day if you get up with him at 5am. Does this make you grumpy? If so I would use it for a while. I found during the 6 years of my boys life I had to change various bits and pieces to help sleep or eat or learn. Wait until they drop their afternoon nap and your not ready for them to do it!Ha haSmile. It took me longer to get him to nap than he was napping. At the moment at 6 years old my little one is finding it hard to get off to sleep this is after a bath and story and Dad singing a song. He now wants me to do a show with his teddies!!!! I've now drawn a line and he has to figure this one out himself.

Thanks for that starbear. I'm sure this journey with our little boy will bring all sorts of trials and tribulations, but its always good to get the reassurance - I just question everything!!

At 7,8 and 11, our DCs still have their "sleepytime music" on all night. They love it.
