DD prefers travel cot!

Breaking news in our house this weekend is that dd CAN go through the night!!! hurray, except only in the travel cot? we found this out after having friends over on weds who decided to stay overnight with younger baby than ours, and so dd went in her travel cot while little friend had the proper one. DD didnt wake once, not one little whimper until 730! (i obviously did at about 4 on auto pilot and panicking she was alright). Thought, probabably one off so back to own cot on thurs, woke up at 4 again.
So,travel cot again friday, and again right through.
What to do now? Its the " is it appropriate to raise child sleeping on the floor of net lined cot! plus very expensive cot with luxury (i might add) mattress standing empty" versus "oh the bliss of an entire nights sleep"
any ideas?

i would go for travel cot. no doubt about it.

Full night's sleep would do it for me

Maybe after a few weeks when you have caught up - you could put the expensive mattress in the TC (if it fits?)

Get her into the habit then try to make the adjustment to real cot, with familiar blankets etc.

I think its probably that when dd throws herself about in her sleep she doesnt hit anything hard perhaps? ill just have to hide it from mil every time she comes.

My ds sleeps in travel cot, with ortopedic matrass inside. He really like it!!!

You can buy travel cot matteress pads in Mothercare. They are £20, nicely padded & have the breatheable surface. Perhaps you could buy one of these to tide you over then move DD when she is in the habit of sleeping through the night ? We have one for when we go on hols so she can sleep in comfort

My ds always slept better in travel cot. Squarer shape and soft sides meant he didn't wake himself up by banging his head (he's a very active sleeper). For this reason we moved him into a bed very young (14 months)

DD slept in a travel cot from about 5 months until 18 months (when she moved into her big bed). i found it so much better and safer.

Posey and lilacbump, the travel cot is staying! especially as planning/practicing for baby number two. Making the most of whole-ish nights sleep before it all begins again. Thanks mojomummy i'll buy a pad this week, as was bit worried that having a folded blanket/quilt type thing isnt the best idea for a mattress.

Have continued to experiment with travel cot and wooden one and it is because dd ends up always sleeping accross ways and with the travel cot her head doesnt touch anything hard. Posey how did ds get on in bed so young, did you buy two bed guards? as sister has suggested moving to bed earlier.

Ds's bed is against a wall head end and side. The bottom has a wardrobe against it so left just one side. We have a bed guard (bought brand new in the charity shop for dd for £8. We have used it in total for 5 years so far so pretty good value for money!) We really have never looked back, it just revolutionised nights.

BM, DS is also very restless. Woke up to 5 times a night in cot. Now sleeps on floor in a grobag on top of two thick duvets. Still wakes average once a night when he crashes into a wall on the opposite side to the room but sleeps much better.

There's nothing else in his room now BTW, so nice and safe. MIL appauled though!

We sorted out ds's sleep on holiday in a travel cot. When he came home he went in the normal cot no problem.
