Baby crying when I pick her up from nursery

Hi

My 10 month old baby has started nursery. She goes off fine and is happy during the day but when I pick her up she sees me and cries - any ideas why she does this. It's quite upsetting. :(

Thanks

To wind you up probably. It's quite common, my DS did it too. He now tells me he loves me at least 20x a day! Grin [smug]

My dd did exactly the same when she started at 10 months too (nearly 5 years ago!) It's very upsetting, and I think it was because she'd been so involved in all the fun stuff going on at nursery she had a shock when she saw me and realised that I hadn't been there all that time! It didn't last for more than a few weeks but I remember how tough it was. She totally loved nursery in the end and it did so much towards helping her become the happy, confident, independent 5 1/2 year old she is today. Smile

My dd did this when she was about 10 mo and recently started nursery too. It didn't last long but I was quite surprised as she is such a happy wee thing and loves nursery! I figured the same as tikka - she was just getting a shock when I suddenly appeared and realising that I hadn't been there all day! The other thing I noticed was she doesn't sleep at much at nursery so she's totally knackered by the end of the day.

It didn't last long and now, at almost 1, she laughs and claps and dances about when I come to pick her up! I'm sure your dd will be the same! All the best Smile

Ds used to do this (and still does on his half day) because he doesn't want to leave!

Now he brings me toys to join in with or things to show me :)

Its very normal, something to do with remembering that they have missed you!

My DD did it at that age too. Don't worry! She grew out of it within a few weeks.

DD did this too, she was 12mo when she started. I honestly think she was pleased to see me but was just overcome with emotion do would burst into tears. It passed quite quickly and now DH picks her up and gets a big 'Hi!' and a cuddle.
Hope it gets better soon.
