Hi, i am wondering if anyone else's child has been through a nuerotic stage (I'm hoping its a stage!!!) My DD is 7 and complains constantly that this hurts, that hurts, feels sick etc etc etc. She does it to me at home and also her teacher at school, and it has started to wear us both down a bit. I just don't know why she is doing it and how to help/stop her! Sad

We have done brave hugs at home each day after school, if she has been brave and not bothered anyone with something minor, which seemed to have helped for a while. Or should I just be saying 'GET A GRIP'!!! Blush

She is not a confident child at school, but is confident at home with her brother and me/DH.

Its just worn me down TBH! any ideas anyone!?
Thanks!

Mine too. Might be for the same reason as teacher suggested.

Around seven, children are at a stage where they've started to take in snippets from TV programmes, news items, from people chatting in the street. Old enough to read newspaper headlines and magazine covers, they can worry at leaving home in case something dreadful happens. Difficult for a seven year old to put that fear into words, the child will come up with all sorts of supposed pains and aches and reasons to stay home in the belief this will stop something bad happening.

What I did was tell DD all that I did when she was away, including stopped for green man to cross the road and so on, if I'd been out shopping. This phase is a trial at times but believe me, it does pass. [bsmile]
