I want to ask if you will all spare a few minutes to sign my petition at:
www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/plagiocephaly
My son had plagiocephaly - basically, the back of his head became flattened from laying on the same part of his head all the time. I was lucky to be able to find out about treatment with a helmet before it was too late for my son. The problem is that others just don't know about this condition, or how they can avoid it in the first place, because HVs and GPs tell parents that their LOs heads will round out on their own, or that their hair will cover it - but for most babies, this just doesn't happen.
Anyway, because of my experiences, I set up a support group (groups.msn.com/PlagioUK ). We have 250+ members - all with babies with plagiocephaly - and we want the NHS to start giving out some basic, simple advice that will mean that other babies won't develop this flattening.
So - please sign. And then please ask your friends and family to sign.
I need 10,000 signatures to make the government and the NHS take notice of me.
Thank you so much.
Claire (and Toby, 22 months)
