Hi Sweetbean, In my area I think all they did was check hearing. In and out in about 4 minutes!

HV rang yesterday to ask if dd neaded her haering checked and because we had it checked when she was born and she was fine i said that she didn't nead it! oh god should i have said that she did ???????

oo er, I'm not sure - probably not. I thought the 8 month hearing check was standard (only in my area, obviously!) I wouldn't worry because it is exactly technical!. DD sat on my lap and 1 HV in front of us and another going from side to side behind us jingling bells/whispering etc. Make the most of it as regards asking any questions, as my HV just told me that they don't get any further standard checks!

The newborn hearing test checks for permanent deafness. Any further hearing tests later in life (if passed newborn test) are usually checking for glue ear. As your dd passed the newborn test and if you have no worries about her hearing, she shouldn't need any further hearing tests.
The newborn test is slowly replacing the 8 month check throughout England cos as MNB said the HV test is not great!!
