Has Tixylix or Medised altered your child's behaviour when sick?

My 22 months DD has currently got a bit of bad cold with a chesty cough so I've been giving her Tixylix to help her get over it. Unfortunately I've noticed her behaviour's become a bit aggressive over the last day or so - she's only had the meds for about 3 days - and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar things?
She's normally a very content and calm child and is definitely acting out of character at the moment.
I'm truly at my wits end as I want her to try and get better soon but don't know what else to give her to eleviate (sp?) the symptoms. I've been loading her full of fresh juices, fruit and kiddies vitamins but she's still battling to get over this cold.
Thx

I think it's unlikely that her aggressive behaviour is caused by the medicine. She's probably just feeling unwell and grumpy and acting aggressively because there's no other way to express her feelings and frustrations.

Medised has a antihistamine in it, which is supposed to have a mild relaxing effect and so help them sleep. However I've heard that sometimes this can have the opposite effect in some children and make them a little hyperactive. Might be worth switching to just plain Calpol and covering her in Karvol for the runny nose and see if her behaviour improves?
You can try the homeopathic remedy Pulsatilla for the runny nose and to help clear any phlegm.

hi
when my son is ill his behaviour changes completely and he is aggressive, moody, and like having a stroppy teen..lol I think its frustration at being ill and not knowing what to do about it.

Medised. Fantastic. Makes mine sleepy. Love it. Lots.

Lots of medicines have preservatives in them - this can cause aggressive behaviour in children, is there sorbitol in the kiddie vits, that can do the same. That combined with feeling under the weather can result in a pretty upset child.

i've given mine tixylix lately and he's become downright rude (am going to give him lemon and honey as suggested in "birth to five" yeah right - like he'll swallow that!!) I sympathise with you, hope she gets over it soon.
