Farty baby

Has anyone got any tips to help a farty little baby? DS is 6 months old and has trouble with wind, especially at night. He seems to have tonnnes of wind. More than should really fit inside him.

I still wind him after his feeds and he burps a little bit. He is bf and we've just started to introduce solids. The windiness hasn't really got worse since introducing solids.

Someone said i should drink fennel tea. Someone said peppermint. I dislike both but am getting the fennel tomorrow and have drunk peppermint today. Anyone for any more? Poor little fella, he needs some sleep (and that's just DH, who is currently doing most of the night shift).

laT I was recommended fennel tea too and have drunk it every day since the DTs were born. Are you avoiding food that makes you windy? e.g. onions, cabbage etc.

latrucha · 16/01/2011 21:59

I'm not avoiding onions, as I think my world would fall apart.

How much do you drink? How much do they fart? Wink

I probably don't eat that many though.

they don't fart that much tbh. I started on the fennel tea as a preventitive measure. I was also advised it helped boost breast milk supply. I drink 2 cups a day.

It might not be that useful, but when i was pregnant, I remember getting a tea bag which was for babies, which you gave them after 6 months, apparantly to help with wind. It might well have been fennel tea. Sorry, I can't tell you anymore, but it was a freebie from HIPP - maybe they would have something on their website?

Well, I haev the fennel tea, and I've had two cups today so we'll see. Thanks MonkeyMargot.

I'll look into the tea bag on Hipp. Thanks teenyanne. I know that sort of thing is very popular in Spain.

I used to find DD1 got really windy if I had too much caffeine. I switched to decaff coffee and tea and the wind really seemed to reduce. Doesn't seem to affect DD2 luckily so I can still get my coffee fix!

Oh no! I drink lots of tea. I CAN'T not have my tea.
