4 month old pulling my hair

My 4 month old likes to play with my hair and (unintentionally) ends up pulling it. I have tried putting it up, but she played with the very few strands she could get (ouch). Whilst I don't mind too much I am concerned that she may do this to others, particularly other children or babies. Any ideas of how to stop her from doing this?

Being the evil mummy that I am, I fixed it by pulling my son's hair back! Worked!

DD doesn't really have any yet!

Keeping it out of reach is about all you can do at this age - they do grab! You just have to stop her when she tries to do it to other babies or children. As she gets a bit bigger you can consistently say no and loosen her hand off, but like everything it takes a while for them to learn it. You could also try crying out in pain when she does it - that can get through to them sometimes that it really does hurt you, when putting up with it and saying no doesn't meam much. But I'm not sure if that would have any effect at such a young age.

As muminscotland says, keep out of reach and lots of nos whist extrapolating sticky fist from your hair, try not to laugh as she will probably find it funny soon

Excellent - thanks for the advice, I'll have to invest in some clips.

i think its something that most babies do, in fact i think its one of the 'milestones' in the red book.

they are like little monkeys. hair up, no necklaces or dangly earrings?

My lo is forever yanking my hair, she just finds it fascinating lol, she likes pulling at oh's hair too. We just say no, and gently remove her grasp - she's 7.5 months now so a bit young to totally understand right from wrong - but as she gets older she'll learn what no means (I hope! lol) x
