3month old- couple of questions

hello and happy new year.
Couple of q's. My 3 month baby girl has started sucking her hand really hard for long periods of time and producing gallons of saliva. None of this is bothering her, she doesn't like a dummy so i guess it's to self soothe, but does anyone have any ideas what else it might be? Could she be looking to teethe at this early stage?

Also, she's kicking and flayling arms everynight, so much so that she's waking herself up. She's nearly out grown her Moses basket so we'll be looking to put her in her cot over the next few weeks. She's been swaddled but just fights her way out of that. Anyone got any tips?
xx

My 3 month old is doing lots of hand sucking and dribbling. It could be early signs of teething but probably just the novelty now they have discovered their hands (is she also starring at them a lot?Grin).

As for swaddling have you tried a miracle blanket (try amazon)? Failing that try a double swaddle: use a flat sheet or a muslin, tuck it over the baby's arms then under their back so just their arms are pinned down. The babies own weight holds them down. Then just swaddle as normal. Let me know if that doesn't make sense!

thank you!

While you're on Amazon - the Kiddopotamus Swaddleme is great. I found it easier than the miracle blanket (though we used both) as it has velcro. They come in different sizes and fabrics. I don't make any commission! More's the pity.

Or you could try a woombie but they just freak me out!

Cute! Some of them have feet! The name freaks me out.

woombies are brilliant. Summer infant do a cheaper version called Swaddlepod which is brilliant too. DD loved them and she always fought and escaped the miracle blanket and the swaddleMe we had.

mine 4 months - was in cot at 5 weeks in a gro bag (put him in moses basket in cot for first week to get used to it)

G&T, mine is 4 months and still sucks everything and puts everything you hand him into his mouth, and dribbles down us all the time. He isn't teething, I think it's just novelty.

Can't help on the flailing as DS never liked swaddling from day 1 and would always escape even tight expert midwife swaddle let alone our cack handed amateur efforts. I think he just got used to it and now sleeps with his arms up and hands under head, like some contented sunbather.

You may find your DD is better in the cot - DS is as he can't reach the side so even if he flails he hasn't got anything to hit.
