Is ds not eating because of teething pain or is he being fussy?

Ds is 15 months old and over the last week, he has went off his food pretty much completely. (hv suggested we give formula again, which we have been.) he is cutting 5 teeth at once (and its been rough.) the two top canines, the two teeth below the canines and one top molar. he chews his fingers most of the day and his gums are very irritated by lunchtime. i am able to coax breakfast into him (porrage usually). trying to get him to eat lunch or dinner or even a snack has gone nowhere really.

although my husband gave him some yogurt off the same spoon he would have his other meals off of and he ate it pretty much okay. (could it be the lack of effort needed? no chewing?)

i dont want all my work of getting him onto a good diet of balanced solids to go to waste. but on the other hand, if its all down to him teething, what else can i do?

(i am calling my hv about this again, tomorrow. its maddening!)

any advice?

ds does this. it could be the teething, it could be something else. Even now (20 mths) he will sometimes only eat finely mushed up food.

But as long as he's eating something and taking liquids, he'll be OK.

it does sound like it's teething. he probabl liked the yoghurt because it was smooth and cool. he may prefer stuff like that for a wihle
have you tried teething gel?

the GP and hv both assured me (on monday) that this is normal when they are heavily teething, and to get fluids in him as much as possible (he's vomitted daily too, fingers down his throat )

i cant get teething gel in his mouth now, we didnt brush his teeth for a few days because he kicked up such a fuss. we brushed them tonight though because i dont want ds to get out of the habit of letting us brush them..

he normally isnt very fussy.. and will eat most things! i guess its normal to be worried!
