12 week old won't stop crying - just developmental stage??

DD1 is nearly 12 weeks old and has been going through a strange phase for nearly a week. She no longer seems to have proper 'happy' time during her awake hours, but cries most of the time, getting worse throughout the day. She goes down for naps fine (falls asleep sucking my finger mostly - the need to suck has increased in the last couple of weeks). Her feeding is bad during the day now (she is ebf), she's going much longer between feeds (4-5 hours as opposed to 2-3 hours), but still only takes the same amount, and screams on and off throughout the feed (sometimes I almost have to force her to take a feed, which after screaming for a moment she submits to rather frantically). Night time is still going well, and feeding during the night is relaxed and easy. I'm not sure whether she's just going through a developmental phase at the moment (The Wonder Weeks book reckons babies have a developmental stage at 12 weeks and a fussy time preceding it) or whether she's ill - the crying all the time is so uncharacteristic for her. I can't see anything obviously wrong with her, and she doesn't have a temperature. Any advice would be good!

Could she be teething?
Does Calpol help?

It does sound like teething

Hmm, I hadn't considered teething! Does that happen this early? Does teething affect their feeding then? Thanks for your help, it is really rather stressful at the moment...!

yes, it hurts them to suck - try giving some calpol or nurofen before a feed and see if that helps :)
