At what age do you expect your child to make/save for presents for Christmas

I have 4, ages 10, 7, 4 and just turned 1. I was just doing my normal which involves laying out each with present for each other and their father on their beds for them to come home to tonight and wrap. But at what point should they be encouraged to save/buy/make these gestures themselves?

I have been thinking about that too so I ll b watching out for any replies...

I have 3 children, same ages as your eldest ones, and whilst I dont know the answer I feel they are too young just now.

The eldest maybe, but surely I cant single her out?

I do take them out with me to buy DH's christmas and birthday present (and I make sure that, whilst fun, they see it's not not an easy task!!!)- we all have to be in agreement what to buy , though I pay.. But for now thats as far as it goes....
