A few weeks ago, we successfully got rid of our 7 month old ds dummy which had been a real problem during the night = popping back in every hour, hour and a half. He's now doing really well without it, except he now wakes around 3 am and chats and makes noises - very loudly and high pitched. He's not crying or distressed and eventually an hour later goes back off. However he is waking the entire house - not great for 12 year old dd who has to go to school and dh to work!!!! He then stirs for 10 mins at 5ish and then 6ish!!! We dont go in to him as he's not upset and just leave him, but its really taking its toll on all with very disturbed sleep. What can we do???

just noticed your question has gone unanswered...... i cant help about the 3am babbling but both my twins (now 16 months) have woken at around 5am ish since they were probably about 6 months old.

We found that if we left them at that early morning time they would wake up fully and then stay awake, but if we went to them as soon as we heard the first cry they would resettle quite easily and go back to sleep for another 2 hours. so in my experience its been better to go to them quickly as soon as we hear them stir. we are big on doing whatever is easiest to get the best nights sleep for ourselves so we often carry one through into our own bed at 5am, he is asleep again almost as soon as his head touches the pillow and will sleep until 7.30am. bliss and so easy!!

Thanks for your reply mumsgonemad, i agree with what you said about doing the easiest thing, sometimes I think we get railroaded into doing the 'right thing'. Will try it and see how we go, thank you
