Smelly wind in 3mo, normal?

Really smelly! DD2 is purely BF so not sure why or what's going on. DD1 was also BF and her bowel habits were much more tolerable just smelt sweet. I'm quite worried about it.

DD2 is a reflux baby, I was using gaviscon but stopped 3 weeks ago as she got so constipated. I've not had a good day as she has been really unsettled so I don't know if I'm just getting a bit anxious. The last 10 days or so have been fine but she seems to go through phases when she is really unsettled and screamy on feeding and I get panicky that there is something seriously wrong. Have no faith in HV who just makes me worry about her weight (25th centile like her sister was) or GP who sent me off to a&e with the constipation and whipped me up into a frenzy. I blame the gp for my anxiety as he suggested maybe there was something wrong with her bowel as she cried (ALOT)when he pressed on it, but we had been waiting half an hour and she was due a feed at the time. She was fine when I took her to the hospital they said just constipation, but now I worry all the time there's something else.

DD's have always stunk...it was very embarassing when she was really small, on a day out, she would be lying there, all sweet and asleep, then she would let rip, a proper stinker...the little old ladies soon cleared from around her pram I can tell you..

She is BF, and was very windy, would get very upset about it, crying etc. she was also very constipated and windy when we began solids - we used a tiny bit of orange juice in water to loosen everything up, she now has prunes every day in her porridge, loves them, and seems a lot happier. But you wouldn't want to do that I guess with her being only 3 months.
I dont have any advice about the reflux, but could it have been the gaviscon working through her system making her more windy?

Seriously though, if you're worried, could you try another HV, or a BF clinic or something for advice to put your mind at rest? Doesn't sound like the other people you've seen have been very helpful.

Sorry I'm not more helpful! - just that DD is 8 months now, and it settled down a lot, hardly ever bothers her now. We now have formula poo to deal with though, even though she is only on one bottle a day, it reeks!

oh, and please try not to worry too much! is she happy in herself? Is there another GP you can see, to try and get something else for the reflux? from reading on here there are other treatments that work well I think - someone more helpful will be along I'm sure!

THank you, glad she's not the only stinker! I just decided to try an manage the reflux by keeping her upright after feeds and propping the moses basket as the gaviscon was causing more problems. She is happy in herself other than these odd days and then I start to worry as its such a contrast from her usual mood. She is much less grumpy than DD1 was. I was just hoping to enjoy it more 2nd time around and I find myself more anxious than last time but not sure whether its me or I really should be worried. Have previously seen 2 HVs and 2 GPs all have no clue about reflux or gaviscon and their indecisiveness has left me feeling there is no point in going to see them.
