Oh lord, I think I'm overfeeding DS

He is 2yo, 14kg and 86cm tall. He has always been around the 75th percentile (he was 8lb 4 at birth) and does like his food. I wasn't sure as he has a very round face anyway but DH looked at a photo of him the other day and said "blimey".

He does not have much unhealthy food, barring the odd treat, and we walk a lot, go swimming and go to the park regularly, but I think we may be giving him oversized portions.

I read an article that said that parents rarely spot that their child is overweight, as they see them all the time and also overlook and are defensive about "flaws" in their DCs.

Okay, is DS overweight, objectively speaking?

Flame away, you cannot make me feel any guiltier.

It starts today. Lucky for DS he has massive hands, that's all I'm saying.

Just cut back on the puddings, replace with fruit or yogurt, but I wouldn't worry too much at 2. Maybe cut back on snacks, or again replace with fruit.

And, sorry to pp but bread is fine Smile

Make sure he gets enough running around time- normally not a problem with 2 year olds, but I think the obese 3 year olds are the ones who are plonked in front of the T.V.

Unless he is way over the charts I would chill. My son has just turned 4, he is 110cm tall and 18.something kg. Quite a big chap, but pretty skinny.

My daughter has just turned 2, she is 85cm tall and about 24 pounds (11kg?). Quite diddy. She was 8 pounds 5 at birth!!

I feed them both the same stuff Smile

Dinner went eally well, did hand sized portions and had grapes for pudding. No complaints.

Believe me, the boy gets his running around time. And wrestling, jumping, spinning, dancing, climbing and bouncing!

I think DH is next on my list...

Oh dear - my DS is just turning 20months and is 86cm and weighs around 13kg....Shock

He eats like a horse and is very active - maybe I should keep an eye on his portion sizes?
