My 2.5yr old has just taken a usb stick to a painting of mine. His scribbles have taken off a lot of the paint. Now, in the end it's only a painting but its a) beautiful b) mine c) precious to me (it's by a relative). How do I let him know how sad (and cross) I am about the damage? He has been told many times that we draw on paper!?

What a shame. I think you should tell him how sad it's made you and reiterate your rules, but otherwise, try and keep precious and hazardous items out of reach until he's grown into a bit of common sense.

Thank you, Ill do that. I do try and keep precious things out of reach but guess I hadnt fully reckoned on the ingenuity of a bored snow bound toddler and the appeal of a large canvas on the wall!
