How do nursery staff deal with an agressive child?

I would try to take her to a quiet safe area,like the book corner and try and get the other staff to encourage the other children to ignore her and get on with what they were doing. Then I would make sure she couldnt hurt herself and let the tantrum run its course with a few gentle words to try and calm her. When its done I would give her a cuddle if she let me and do some quiet activities till she was ready to rejoin the group.

Well you need to tell them that you want to know what is going on. Ask if they can see any reason behind it. does it go on for any length of time. Ring mid morning to see how she is.
Has anything changed at home etc.
Talk to her about it. does she enjoy nursery. If yes say that she shouldnt behave in this way as she is upsetting people.

They know that she isnt normally like this. I would have tried to find out what was behind it. Maybe she isnt ready to be moved up to the next room? Maybe ask if she can go back to the room and dtaff she was happy with and visit the other room on a regular basis..more and more each week.
Dont worry I would be very suprised if they asked her to leave.

They wont ask her to leave rickman. Alot of children become difficult and anxious if there routine changes. i reckon it has made her panic a bit as she has changed room. Give it a few weeks, she will most probably settle down once she gets used to it.
