Swirl · 21/09/2005 21:12

Having just started a thread about my clingy DS I am going to be glued tonight! But thankfully not experiencing anything like the severity of these problems. Feel so sorry for the poor mum.

GoshHunkerYoureLookingRadiant · 21/09/2005 21:15

next weeks looks shocking, someone remind me next week to watch it.

GoshHunkerYoureLookingRadiant · 21/09/2005 22:03

Waterfalls, I agree!

Glad the mum this week cracked it

annh · 21/09/2005 22:09

OMG, I know the mum on next week's programme! She doesn't live close to me anymore but I have told all my colleagues at work and am now beginning to regret it - wondering if I will want to own up to knowing her after the programme!

waterfalls · 21/09/2005 22:14

annh
so did the clip of next weeks show surprise you, or is it typical of the mother?

annh · 21/09/2005 22:21

It surprised me to be honest but it's difficult to tell how it's really going to be from a short clip. They're obviously not going to choose a boring bit!

Rhubarb · 21/09/2005 22:32

So what was the advice then? How do you deal with a clingy and demanding toddler? I have one so I really need to know this! Anyone got it on video?

earlyraisin · 22/09/2005 10:16

it was good to see her getting out dancing at the end, perhaps she won't need to cuddle her 3yo so much if she keeps going out and dancing with gorgeous men - she was lucky to have such a great mum

gingerbear · 22/09/2005 14:46

I was sobbing most of the way through this one. She really was at rock bottom.
Rhubarb, the clingy toddler in question was 3 yrs and had lots of babyish behaviour that stemmed from his jealousy of his one yr old baby brother. He would tantrum at getting dressed, having a bath, wouldn't go to bed until mum stayed with him til he fell asleep. Would lash out at baby. Supernanny's diagnosis was that he had taken over control and it was up to mum to regain control and discipline him when needed. She used familiar techniques - naughty corner for time out, reward chart, for bedtime the no dialogue routine. I thing one of the best things she used was shared play and the toddler helping out with little chores to help him feel more grown up.
