Treasure basket question

I wasn't sure where was the best place to put this - so apologies if you think it's not here!

How often do you rotate the items in your treasure basket?

I have a treasure basket for 10 m.o. DS but he doesn't seem mega interested in it. He'll explore it for 5, maybe 10 mins then get bored and crawl off. It's got lots of interesting things in it of all different materials.

Any tips as to how I can encourage him to be more interested - or am I just expecting too much? I need something to keep him in one place while I cook dinner, and don't like having him in his high chair for too long.

He has been pulling up to kneeling recently and is desperate to pull to standing - so maybe that's too exciting to want to sit & explore things?

The annoying thing is that at other times he'll sit on the floor and chew something random for what seems like ages.

We have a treasure basket (home made though) full of Interesting Things. Tbh, I think DD gets a bit overfaced by it, too much going on.
Strangely, she seems happier if I just give her one thing to play with, happier still if it's a household item, not a toy. She will explore it at length then and keep still for a while. Today, it was an empty Pepsi bottle with a stone inside. Yesterday, a wooden spoon and a crisp packet.

She's 8 months, and today toppled the toybox over, pushed it to the sofa, climbed up it and stood up on top of it to reach the remote control. I think I'm going to have my work cut out with her...

Of course, having posted this, he made a beeline for the basket this morning (usually he doesn't go near it if I don't get it out). Babies, eh?

stresshead, crisp packets are a big hit here too, although the plug on a chain is probably the all-time favourite. I might try giving him one thing at a time when I want him to stay in one place.

That's pretty good moving for an 8 m.o.!
