Baby development - reassurance please!

Hi everyone. Ds2 is 8 months old today. He is a lovely baby, happy, social. Eats well, can sit up beautifully in high chair, tries to pull himself up whenever he is lying down or being cuddled. But, teeny bit worried cause he can only sit unaided for a cowpoke of seconds before he decides to roll over. Course I am maybe being neurotic. He can roll around all over the floor, and pushes himself up onto knees and rocks back and forward. Should I worry or just relax for goodness sakes woman?!

That is a couple of seconds not a cowpoke!

DD only sat up for a length of time unaided at 10 months.

She too could roll and so on but would never sit. Our HV said she would only be worried at 12 months, as did the consultant we saw when DD was in hospital with novovirus.

He said that her fine motor skills were excellent and she was just a bit slow with the gross motor skills.

Of course if you are worried for any reason, maybe asking your GP or HV would reassure you?

Hi try not to worry, my friends ds's didn't sit up until 9/10 months. There's a big range for normal. My dd sat up at 7 months unaided but from there on did nothing. She didn't roll at all or push forward until 10 months. I was getting worried and one day a day before she was 10 months she crawled about 5 feet to get my car keys. I was gob smacked. Please don't worry have a chat with your hv but I'm sure as he is very active in other areas they will tell you not to worry.

Ps, ds used to do the rocking thing and with about 2 weeks he was crawling so your ds won't be long until he's on the move.

Hey thanks for replies. Maybe will mention to health visitor next time I am at weigh in! Always seem to concentrate on the negatives rather than thinking about all he actually does (smile)

Sounds like he's keen to get going! Don't worry about it at all.
