Son throws out cuddly toys EVERY night

Help please

Ihave 5 yr old twins. One has a cuddly winnie the pooh and teddy bear and would be devastated to not have the there at night.

The other has never had a cuddly toy and if i put one in his bed, he will throw it accross the room and say, I DON'T WANT IT.

Is there anything psychologically wrong with a child not wanting to cuddle toys?

In every other way he is very affectionate and always kisses and cuddles me and his dad and sister and brother and tells us he loves us.

He also gets very frustrated and lashes out occasionally. I'm putting the to together and getting 6!

Please reply.

Whats the problem??
There's no rule to say you have to like cuddly toys. I bloody hate them and really wish people would stop giving them to my kids actually.

My dd (4.9) has never really cuddled toys, shes never had a favourite toy either. I wouldnt worry, horses for courses and all that.

SleepySuzy · 16/09/2005 22:47

My dd is not into cuddly toys at all. I think she finds them boring - she's only 20 months!

If one of your children doesn't want cuddly toys in his bed, why are you trying to put them there? Sounds like he's telling you very clearly he doesn't want it, so why force it on him? There's no rule that says children have to have cuddly toys!

Frustrated and lashes out - think most children do this a bit. Life's hard when you want to do things that you don't have the skill to do. But I've no experience of 5yos, so may be talking rubbish here.

dd aint got a fav cuddly toy eihter. she like sto play with them (by that read take each one and see how far she can throw it) but ha snever been bothered whether she hasany particular one wiht her at night or not.

Im one of 6 and only 2 of us had a fav teddy.

Thanks

Deep down,I know i'm just being paranoid, but hey thats me!

It just seems that every day he does something that I think - why would he do that. Yesterday he hit DD friend in the playground - completely unprovoked. When I ask him why he say's because I wanted to!!!???? When i say to him, how woul you feel if someone hit you - he says happy.

My MIL says he just emotionally more immature than his brother who at least recognises the suitable response.

They have just started in yr1 despite only being 5 a few
weeks ago.

I don't really put them there. if my mum comes over to do a bit of tidying for me, she will tuck a teddy in his bed as she does for his brother.

I gave up a long time ago.

My ds has never had a teddy in bed, but he still has a bottle, he is 4.7 [blush)

I put it down to the fact that the bottle is his comforter as appose to a teddy...it's just about preference.

spidermama · 16/09/2005 23:32

I didn't like dusty old toys in my way when I was trying to sleep. I never had them.
My brother, on the other hand, couldn't sleep without his rabbit.

jampots · 16/09/2005 23:33
