Help!! Clingy DD.

My dd is 13 months old, and is so clingy at the moment. I have never really left her with anyone, and she can't understand the poor thing.

Also yesterday I did a swimming lesson(I teach)
She went into the creche and got into such a state that she had to get in the pool with me after about 10 mins, while I taught.

Calmriver - my dd used to be exactly the same at your age and she was left with other people from 3 months when i went back to work

I have driven myself mad worrying about this and thinking of ways to change it but she just grew out of it in her own time.

Your dd has never been left and as you rightly say, she doesnt understand whats going on - and she certainly doesnt understand that mummy will be back soon. As far as shes concerned, mummy (who is nearly always with her) has left her and she doesnt really like it very much!!

Its so hard but please be assured that your dd WILL gradually get used to being left.

MY DD WAS SO BAD I GAVE UP N TRYING TO LEAVE HER AND EVEN WHEN WE WENT ANYWHERE M&B GROUPS ETC SHE WOULDN'T EVEN MOVE MORE THAN A METRE AWAY FROM ME.
FINALLY CRACKED IT AT PRE-SCHOOL WHEN AGED 2 I LEFT HER THERE, THEY SAID SHE HAD BEEN THE WORSE CASE THEY HAD SEEN, SHE STOOD IN THE CORNER SAYING I WANT MUMMY! TILL I COLLECTED HER!
IT TOOK SIX MONTHS IN TOTAL WITH A 6 WEEK BREAK IN BETWEEN, WHEN I GOT HER OUT OF NAPPIES BECAUSE SHE WENT MAD WHEN THEY TRIED TO CHANGE HER! OH AND OUR NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOURS LITTLE GIRL WAS THERE, SO SHE HAD A FRIEND ALREADY BUT LITTLE DIFFERENCE IT MADE!
STILL 3YRS 10 MTHS NOW AND LOVES IT, GOES HAPPILY, TILL 3PM TWO DAYS A WEEK THYE RECKON SHE'LL BE READING IN A FEW MONTHS!
BUT STILL VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT NEW THINGS ETC AND WOULD'NT GO OFF ON HER OWN AT ALL UNLESS VERY SURE OF EVERYTHING!
SO THEY ALL CHANGE EVENTUALLY! GOOD LUCK.

while this may not solve the problem, it should take the edge off her clingyness - use the homeopathic remedy called Pulsatilla
