Repeated itching - nervous habit?

Hi, my 3-and-a-half year old DD has started scratching herself in different places, mostly on her hands but sometimes on her neck or tummy or legs. She keeps doing it - not vigorous scratching that leaves marks, just little tiny scratching movements. She says she feels itchy but the way she does it looks more like a nervous habit to me - she is a nervy kind of kid and has started a lot of finger sucking, hand sucking etc recently, especially when watching TV.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Will it pass? Am worried it's going to become some kind of tic.

Thanks.

It could be a nervous habit kind of thing but it would be worth ruling out a skin complaint. She says she is itchy. It would be worth considering something like scabies
