16 month old and infant gaviscon

just wondering if anyone out there had or having same problem. DS had silent reflux from pretty much birth and gaviscon worked really well.
he is still on infant gaviscon and whenever we try to wean off he cries his head when put him to bed and wakes in the night screaming his head off. increasing gaviscon makes him better again.
anyone got any experience of when babies seem to grow out of gaviscon?

my daughters 17 months and on ranitidine - same kinda thing, she can come off it for a few days but then starts boking up her dinners until i get her back on it. just trying to keep it to a minimum as don't like her being on meds for so long,since birth too. i guess just try every month or so until they hopefullydon't need it
