Anyone with 2 children with the same personalities

I read over and over again how different peoples 2nd and 3rd children are than from their first - sometimes for the better sometimes not.
Well I would love another baby - but am worried that it wouldn't be the same as my ds. He is the most cuddliest, affectionate, easy going and cheerful baby ever.
What are the chances of having another the same??

My ds is the same as yours. DD is VERY different, but is also cuddly, affectionate and cheerful. They differ in things like dd is alot more assertive and knows excactly what she wants and how to get it, whereas ds will go with the flow. ds is quite a reserved child, whereas dd is incredibly vocal
They are the same in so many ways (good and bad) and yet very different.
I am a great believer in nurture over nature in some respects; if you are cheerful, they will be; if you are laid-back, they will be too. Be brave and go for it!

Nope chalk and cheese. One demanding, bad tempered and hard work. The other kind, thoughtful and a breeze.

Shades1 · 15/09/2005 21:39

mine like nell12 - very different in personalities, one more laid back the other very academic and in your face quite a bit, both love cuddles but at different times.

worried at first about DS2 as he didn't even like to be held as a baby - now - mum I want to kiss you - melts me every time

Go for it

I have ds who is 8,he put me off having another as he was a very difficult child. My dd is 2.5 & is very easy compared to ds.They are very alike in other ways though, they have a mind of their own, wanting to do everything themselves. But you love them no matter what. Its a hard dicission however, but something we will never know until they arrive. Im sure if we did know what we were letting ourselves into we wouldnt bother at all. Its all the luck of the draw-well good luvk anyway & just go for it.

I have never come across anyone who has had children with the same characters. My two are polar opposites. The best bit is that I adore different parts of each personality. DD is kind and thoughtful and hard working and DS is cheery and entertaining and energetic.

justmummy · 17/09/2005 10:12

Hi, well my two (ds 8 & dd 4) are almost identical in personality. Both were very contented happy babies. Both very affectionate, shy & quiet (i wish they weren't quite so shy). Neither had more than a couple of tantrums.
I was also worried when i was expecing dd that i wouldn't be so lucky second time. I thought i would probably get a much noisier child.
Only slight difference is that dd is a bit more adventurous than ds was at her age.
So go for it - you might get another easy going baby. Even if they're the complete opposite you'll love them anyway.

Looks like going by the law of averages you'll be lucky to get clone personalities. My two boys are so unbelievably disimilar I'm sure I was abducted by aliens and implanted with ds2 God love 'im!!

starshaker · 17/09/2005 10:21

no but i have a dd that has 2 lol. she tries to laught and cry at the same time

Ulysees · 17/09/2005 10:25

DS2 does that too lol when he can't make up his mind

zaphod · 17/09/2005 10:26

My dd and ds4 are very similar in temperament.

pabla · 17/09/2005 10:48

Ds2 looks very like dd did at the same age and also reminds me of her in terms of personality, same way of giggling, etc. It is like reliving her babyhood in a way! Ds1 looks totally different. I do hope that ds2 takes after his sister rather than brother - don't really want to go through all those tantrums again!

mugface · 20/09/2005 20:28

ds1 and ds2 are chalk and cheese.

beccalanismum · 05/10/2005 14:35

Mine are opposites one emotionally demanding and the other physically challenging (eg never still) but temprementally laid back.

blossom2 · 05/10/2005 14:50

i'm beginning to think that DD2 has a similar personality to DD1 - both fight sleep and i've had to sleep train, both look very alike, both came 3 weeks early.

sometimes i think they could be twins that are 3.5 yrs apart ....

handlemecarefully · 05/10/2005 14:52

Hard to tell yet for sure but 18 month old ds seems to have a very similar temperament to 3 yr old dd, with some differences.

Angeliz · 05/10/2005 14:56

TracyK, everyone seemed to love telling me this when i was pregnant with dd2.
dd1 is loving, kind, mostly good as gold and adorable.
dd2 is just as loving and adorable.

I never would have beleived that i'd love another as much as dd1 but i adore them both.
Go for it

sunnydelight · 05/10/2005 18:21

My three all share the nice things like being very affectionate and generally cheerful, easygoing kids. They differ in how outgoing they are with other people, confident in their own abilities etc. Enough differences to make parenting facinating, not enough to make me want to send any back
