My DD (15 weeks) is quite awesomely dribbly and needs outfit chages about 4 times a day - the wetness means she has a bad rash under her (many!) chins. My DS (now 7) was never like this but he was quite late on the teething front (about 7 months) so maybe DD is just teething early? All practical tips/ advice/ reassurance that she is not the first baby for whom wetting themselves happens more often at the top end than the bottom welcome!!!

smear a bit of bepanthan on the rash after her bath and it should clear up overnight. during the day you could put some on too as a barrier to the dribble.

You could try keeping an absorbent bib on her. We found the tommee tippee milk feeding bibs really good for super dribbly days. They don't look too fab but they are quite good at soaking it up.

My DS is like this, we've had to keep him in bibs to avoid his neck getting too poorly.

If you don't like the look of the normal feeding bibs, we got some of these for DS as they look a bit better. We go through 7-8 bibs a day, but the alternative is him being sore, and I don't think he cares if he doesn't look stylish.

BTW have you ruled out any specific causes for the dribbling? Eg tongue tie can contribute, just worth checking.

My DS2 dribbles for England too (DS1 was not like that at all!). In the end, I bought some really funky bandana bibs so he can at least look cute while dribbling. You can get some on ebay fairly cheap. Bought 10 for about £20. They have a fleece backing so more absorbent than the usual ones. At least it's just bib and not outfit changing every time.

Both mine were super dribblers and would be sodden in a nano second, like fake plastic we used bandana bibs - we had i think they were called drybib but v similar to ones fakeplastic mentioned, fab.

I had one like this too. Your DD is quite quite normal :)

DS was like this too, I used a bit of Lansinoh as a barrier under his many chins.

I also found fleece backed bibs brilliant (ordinary bibs were useless)

Used to go through about a bib an hour but they dried quite quickly

Thanks for all the advice, ladies - I can see a happy few hours ahead doing some internet shopping...also, it's a really good point that I should check it out to eliminate any underlying problem. I'm finding second-time around motherhood a strange mixture between thinking I know it all and vague panic hanging over from first time!

Totally normal, my 3.5 month old gets through c. 12 bibs a day...super dribbly! Buy more bibs, don't let outfits get wet...bibs are easier to wash!

A friend had this with her DS and bought an amber teething necklace which cut down the dribbling immensely

bandana bibs are brill. dd2 wore them until she was bout 4, when she decided they were too babyish. she wore glasses from 2, and being blonde, used to get called the 'milky bar kid' when we were out and about.

DS was like this, but it really stopped once he cut his 1st tooth (at 8 months)

I used to put vaseline on his chin as a barrier.
