Dear Mumsnetters. My 17mo DS throws everything, and I mean everything - his lunch, his toys, anything he finds... especially fun are the vegetables from his dinner plate. I've tried saying no, being stern, removing the items as soon as he's thrown them, all the usual stuff but he smiles on and continues regardless. He's been doing this for about 4 months. Should I be trying something else, being much stricter, or just let it pass as a very long annoying phase?! If he's completely ignoring 'no' now for something like this, I am filled with terror about the coming 2 years! Any advice very welcome.

Maybe you need to make him realise it's not so fun to loose your things.
Oh, no, Teddy on the floor...... if you dont want him, mummy will put him away for a while. (to bed)
or back to basics ignore his pleas.

It's a phase and it will pass... I just focused on getting the message across that it's not ok to throw hard things! He's just experimenting.
