1 year old DS lying down in the day

This is a strange one!

The last week or so I've noticed DS will stop and lie down when playing. He'll be walking around, then just stop and lie for a bit then get up and carry on. Sometimes he'll do it when trying to pick something up and give up and have a rest. He also comes for cuddles more and will rest his head on my shoulder.

He's been sleeping pretty badly - has a cold, teething and I've gone back to work. So in the night he can be awake for an hour crying and he's waking early in the mornings. So is losing sleep.

Could the lying down thing be because he's tired? Am I being silly - I'm not worried (yet), it's just so out of character. He's also been crawling more, despite walking for a couple of months now.

I don't know if it is strange but my DS (2) does this from time to time too. I don't think he is particularly tired (he lies flat on his back, not snuggled up as if going to sleep) - my rationale has been that he likes the view!

Wanting more cuddles could be a reaction to you being at work, nothing to worry about particularly. Have you been able to work out why he is upset at night though - that sounds unusual. Does he carry on crying even when cuddled or sleeping in with you?

Yes we'll be with him - at night he'll be half asleep crying. We go in and he then goes mad. I'll feed then cuddle him and he still complains then finally after a mad combo of tears, rocking, patting etc he'll drift off Hmm

Poor little man. And poor you.

Hopefully it's teething or a cold and will pass. I suspect it's worse for you than him though, especially when you've got to get through a day at work after.

Thanks Scoobious. It is hard coming home after work and having a grumpy child - the last time I went to work, I could come home and crash out on the sofa Grin
