Hi all

I was just wondering what your baby's routine is?ie. when they wake up, eat, nap and sleep again at bedtime.

At the moment Im trying to adjust my lo's daily routine as she is all over the place. And its driving me crazy :(

Thank you in advance :)

Your baby has a routine of her own. She doesn't need bending to fit someone else's idea of a routine. Just relax and go with the flow. Strict routines are the way to madness, IMO.

@ IIareggub

I do not wish to enforce strict routine. Just want an idea of how other babies at this age group are doing. :)

My DS is 1. Since 9 months old, his routine has been (and I find a routine works for him and has done since about 6 months - I tried going with the flow but he gets overtired):

6/6.30am wake, feed
7.30am, breakfast
8.30/9am nap (45 mins)
1000am snack
1130/1145 lunch
1230 nap (1.5 hours)
2/230pm snack
4.30/5 tea
5.45, bath
6, feed then bed.

DD is 95 mo.

6.30am - wake up and play in cot
7am - get her out of cot and give first milk feed
8am - downstairs for breakfast
9am - in cot for nap (around 1 hour)
11am - snack
12noon - lunch
1.45pm - milk then nap (1 hour - 1hour 45 mins)
5.15pm - tea
6pm - bath
6.45pm - milk then bed

This routine works very well, it evolved quite naturally rather than being imposed.

...obviously I meant 9.5 months...

LifeOfKate · 22/10/2010 21:21

Our routine also evolved quite naturally (I am the least routine minded person you could meet!), DS is 10.5mo now, it's been this way for the last couple of months.

Wakes sometime between 6.30 and 8
Breakfast sometime between 8 and 9
Milk/Nap about 2 or 2.5 hours after he first woke, for about 2 hours
Lunch sometime between 12 and 1
Milk/Nap at 3
Dinner sometime between 6 and 7
Milk/bedtime sometime between 7 and 8

I also still feed him before I go to bed (approx 10pm) and very occasionally once in the night too.

mine is on quite a flexible routine
he wakes up when he wakes up.. which can be between 6-8am depending if his brother disturb him early or not
if he wakes up early i keep him in my bed for a bit after giving milk, if its later go straight for breakfast
if he got up earlier he will nap after breakfast
if we are going out then he gets up and we go out in morning, if not going out til a bit later he may nap a bit longer
lunch about 12ish normally
has another nap in afternoon either after lunch or slightly later 3pmish just depends how tired he is and whether we have to go out in afternoon
dinnertime 5pm ish
bathtime 6pmish
bedtime after bath, has milk and goes to bed

Firawla · 23/10/2010 15:32

forgot to say he is 10 months and sometimes gets up in evening so i just give another milk if he does if seems hungry, but at the moment got a cold so just getting up cos he feels grumpy so i just let him stay up a bit and watch tv with me if he wants

sapphireblwhooooo · 25/10/2010 08:49

DD2 (almost 9mo) as follows:

5.30/6...wakes up
6.30ish...breakfast
7.30-8.30......nap
9.30.......milk
12.00.......lunch
1.00-2.00..... nap
3.00.....milk
4.00-5.00...nap
5.00......tea
7.00........milk and bed

She sleeps far more during the day than DD1 ever did (DD1 was down to 1 nap a day by this point!). I find it much easier to let them find their own routine....you will fall into one without really trying.

DD 10.5 months and has a fairly baby led 'routine'. She gets up a bit earlier than she would naturally as I have to go to work and her bedtime was originally chosen by me (so that I can mark books / do prep in the evening) but now she just gets tired at that point and needs to go to bed:

7am BF in my bed
8am Breakfast
Mid morning Milk and sleep (40 mins for me but longer for dh and cm Hmm)
12.30 Lunch
Mid afternoon Milk and sleep as above
5.30pm Dinner
6.15pm Nappy off time and general mad half hour
6.45pm Bath
7.30pm BF and Bed

Sleeps through unless teething or unwell.

At weekends she sometimes falls back to sleep in my bed for about 30-60 mins after her first BF, which is lovely. Sometimes she has an extra nap around 5ish and then everything else is put back half an hour or so. She also has snacks in the morning and afternoon and on rare occasions she doesn't want an afternoon bottle (although if it's me she's with and she's BFing then she always wants it!)

Having read that back, it doesn't seem like much of a routine at all Confused
