My DS is constantly blinking - nervous tick??

My 5yo DS has been blinking constantly for about the last 3 months. I had his eyes tested and although a little short sighted all seemed well. It does appear to be worse if he is confronted or in the 'spotlight' - does anyone know if this could be a nervous tick? If so, what do I do about it? We have just returned from a 1 weeks family holiday and I must say that it didn't seem so bad whilst we were away..... advice please.

I would say the best thing you can do is completely ignore it, say nothing to him about it and don't talk about it in his presence. I did exactly the same thing at about 7 yrs old and stopped because it was ignored. I didn't even remember doing it. My mum told me about it when I was about 18 and I was mortified, but not as mortified as I'd have been at 7 if it had been pointed out. All minor twitches that aren't medical problems are just that, a little twitch that should pass....

I had a really bad blinking tick when I was about 10 or 11, it got worse when I was stressed or tired. At one point it spread to my head and shoulders, lol!!! Surprisingly I was never bullied about it and grew out of it :-)

I don't think you need to pretend its not there, but definitely don't make a big deal of it. My mum just used to ask me if I was tired when I did it.

I'm slightly long sighted, but I've never linked the two.

My ds had a blinking phase at about this age. We ignored it and it stopped within a couple of months. It definitely happened when he was tired or stressed.
