potty trained but toilet phobic

Hello mums

My DDs 2.5 and potty trained on the potty but is just too scared of the toilet. We would really like to progress to the toilet but she is not at all willing. We have tried about 3 different seats and got a step. I think it stems from an incident she had at nursery several months ago when they forced her to sit on a toilet screaming.... Not nice of them I know. She doesn't go there anymore.

Any suggestions welcome. I've been carrying around a potty for 2 months now!

Thanks

We have a pottette plus it is a potty and can be a loo seat too. Do you think she would sit on the loo on the same seat that would be her potty?

From personal experience, in case it helps at all, I had a phobia of the loo when I was little - was partly a fear of the flushing noise, and being convinced I'd fall in/get sucked away with the water (had to get out of the bath before the plug was taken out too, lol). The only thing that worked in the end was pure bribery (think it involved chocolate!) - having braved it a few times for the reward, realised nothing awful was going to happen and gradually got over it (though remember being wary for quite a long time).

Hi,

I would just carry the potty for a bit longer. She is still pretty young. My DS wasn't trained until 2 and 9 months. It wasn't long before he was on the toilet, but some of his friends who had trained earlier were still on potties at 3.5. Better that she is happy, she will get there in her own time.
