spots around mouth/on nose and chin - 2yo - why?

No spots anywhere else, as far as I can see.

Looks like teenage spots! Quite small red dots. She does rub her nose a bit, but not loads.

The spots don't appear to be bothering her.

Any thoughts? Can't see any teeth coming thru, she doesn't dribble.

Does she have a dummy? They can cause skin irritation sometimes.

Impetigo?

If it is this it is very infectious and will require anti-biotics or cream treatment.

Both my dcs have had this and it was not serious, went within a few days of treatment but they could not go to school whilst the (yellowy) scabs were present.

DaftApeth · 16/10/2010 16:28

I should say that impetigo can be nasty for some though.

have just looked at impetigo, looks horrific! hers is just little spots, nothing major.

DD1 has a mild case of impetigo, sounds the same to me. caused by infected mucus so around the base of the nose and mouth.

cleared up really quickly on a short course of antibiotics, she'd had it a while before i finally went to the doctor. is her bogey yellowy?

DaftApeth · 16/10/2010 19:25

Yes, the google pics are horrific, aren't they? Sad

My two only had a few spots. In fact, ds only had one spot because we caught it so early.

The spots had a definite yellowish liquid/scab though.

no scabs, but some look like white heads. They are spreading up to the skin below the eye so am defo going to doc, she is rubbing her nose a bit more today. Am sure it's minor but is a bit unsightly!
