6 year old's temper

My son has always been a very placid easy going, lovely natured boy. Since he went back to school in year two, he is regularly losing his temper, being aggressive and rude to me. He has never done this before, but he is acting like he is psychotically tired. This seems to happen at least a couple of times a week. He has a younger sister of four whom he gets along with really well most of the time. He is also starting to not want to kiss us goodbye at school. Is this a growing up stage? He is worrying me as there has been no sort of domestic upheaval.

He's probably exhausted. There's a big jump from year 1 to 2 and it takes a while to adjust after the long holidays. Make sure he gets to bed early and has time with just you after little sis is in bed.

YY -Y1 to Y2 is a big jump, and this half term is always the longest and they are exhausted.

Make sure you have a quiet half term with lots of lie ins.

My DS (Y2) will kiss me goodbye within school grounds but not near the classroom. He very occasionally hugs DD (4).
