DS (just 6) has this behaviour pattern that drives me nuts, because it is deliberate naughtiness. Tonight's example: we are watching a programme he likes but he is starting to get grouchy, suddenly announcing that he doesn;t like one of his toys and will never play with it again. I say, OK, put it back in the box then. A few minutes later, he says he wants to go to bed RIGHT NOW. I say, fine, I'll just finish eating my tea and then you can go to bed. Finish eating, say 'Bed, then DS.' He says No, he doesn't want to go to bed. Then immediatley he says he wants to go to bed so I switch off the telly mid-programme and say, right, bedtime. This is the pattern, he announces he wants something he doesn't want and then starts screaming and shouting when I say, OK it's happening. SO he had a huge strop about not watching the programme but I put him to bed anyway and would't turn the TV back on, explaining to him that he had said he wanted to go to bed and he was going to bed.
DO other people's DC do this and if so, how do you deal with it?
