My 10 month old is being a real monkey when eating she refuses to eat after the first couple of mouthfuls will happily eat finger foods and puddings but is a battle to get most main courses down her any suggestions?

Just give her finger foods?

babies often want to eat little and often - 6 small meals rather than 3 bigger ones

Just make the finger foods the main course. It's not worth making a battle over is it? I just want my 10 month old to enjoy sitting at the table and try feeding himself.

One thing I am trying is finger foods that can be dipped into other stuff. Mind you, it's not working because my ds doesn't quite get the concept of dipping, lol.

My DD went through/is going through this phase. I ended up giving her the first few mouthfuls of puree and then giving her some finger foods/a spoon of her own whilst I sat there with a loaded spoon waiting to post it in when she opened her mouth. During most meals, she'd get, say, a pea almost to her mouth but drop it at the last moment by which time her mouth was open so I could pop the spoon in. Boots own brand spoons seem shorted than other weaning spoons and so easier for DD to use. I've also ended up giving her lots of courses eg small amount of meat and veg (mashed) followed by cheese (finger food) followed by fruit (mashed & finger food) followed by cheese (finger food) followed by toast so that there's lots of change as that way she seems to get bored less quickly.
