Finger Sucking 2.5yr old - Any Tips ?

DD1 started about 2 months ago, can't think of a reason why. She never bothered much as a baby with finger sucking or really went through that phase of putting everything in her mouth. Stopped dummy at 4 months and she didn't ever compensate with fingers/thumb.
Is it an anxiety thing ? She started nursery (unhappily) a month ago, but the finger sucking started before that. I am also quite pg and wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that I am bit less active, can't carry her as much etc. Have been super attentive and reassuring to compensate, but I am not sure she really understands the whole baby thing anyway.
I don't want to make a big deal of it, but she gets everything soaking wet and sometimes even talks with her fingers in her mouth. The times I have told her to take her fingers out and explained it's a bit yucky have resulted in major meltdowns.
Any ideas ?

Hi,

not got any tips to stop it, but my son has sucked his finger since he was about 2 (he's 4.5yrs now).

he got this off me as I sucked my finger when i was small and subsequently i have a week index finger, i stopped when i was about 10 or so, maybe a little younger. we're currently trying to get our son to stop sucking his finger.

if i come across anything that works i'll let you know.

Finger (thumb) sucking is a comforting thing, our son only does that when he is very very tired, or chilling out on the sofa.

good luck, and apologies for having no tips to help other than I can sympathise...
