Hi.
Any advice please - DS 18weeks has been a wonderful sleeper since day 1. but the last 4 days he has been waking 3-4 times a night! Each time he feeds for a good 10mins. It has been suggested to me that he is ready to be weaned but call me Precious Last Born I'm just not ready for that yet! (he is DC3) Am I being selfish? I am quite happy to feed him as and when he wants but feel very :( that my milk might not be enough for him anymore. Any suggestions?

It's probably a growth or developmental spurt. Very, very, very common at that age. And why a lot of people wean around that time under the misguided belief/hope that it will help.

Do whatever you can to get through it. It won't last forever.

Hi. It's the 4 month sleep regression in my opinion. There's a few good articles about it; here

Basically, they start going through light and deep sleep cycles and so are more prone to waking up during the light sleep cycle if there's any sleep association.

Don't worry, it does improve.

Also wanted to add that you don't need to wean. Just keep BF him.

Thankyou - thats what I thought, but because my other DC are 11 and 6 I seem to have forgotten so much! I'm quite happy to feed him as and when he needs it, just sick of everyone other people telling me its time to give him a proper meal! Just wasn't sure what with everyones opinions if I was being selfish by denying him something that he might be ready for (even tho I'm not!)Smile
