DS is 9 days and feeding REALLY well. He is actually already taking 100ml (about 3 and a half ounces I think) per feed at around every 3 hours!! What is everyone else's babys taking? Do you think this is too much and maybe I should switch to hungry baby formula? Am worried he is having too much - particularly as he often looks for more after he has finished the 100ml!

Cheers.

Have you checked the packet of formula for amounts to feed ? feed according to that. Sorry not that much help as I breastfed. Could you ask the health visitor

When I FF DD I used the pack as a guide and adjusted it to what she needed - she always had more bottles per day than the pack said but often took a bit less each feed IYKWIM.

About 3-4oz sounds fine though, if she's draining the 100ml I would offer 120 so she takes as much as she needs and leaves a little bit when she's satisfied.

No need for hungry milk IMO, at this age 3 hrly feeds very normal, just feed when she's hungry and don't worry about the clock. If she seems hungry just offer more milk.

Health visitor can also give you advice on this as PP said.

Mine was only taking 60 every 3 hours at that age but he was a few weeks prem. Health visitor told me at 8 weeks that he should not be exceeding 1000ml a day - on the other hand, if he's hungry, he's hungry and I'm not in the baby starvation business!
