Moving from cot to bed

Im wondering what is the best time to move our 2 year old into a big bed and the best way to do it. Her cot turns into a bed and we are thinking of taking the sides down before xmas. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. x

I don't think there's a best time, just when you think she's ready. Just make a big fuss of her 'new' big girl's bed.

We also used a bed guard for a while just to let them get used to it. Ds2 didn't realise for ages he could get out himself!

We have just moved our DS who will be 2 in december out of a cot straight into a single bed as we took the fourth side off his cot about 2 months a go as he was jealous of his sister's (age 3.5) bed. You could start with one side off against a wall to get her used to it - they fall out a bit at first - or get a guard rail.
