Playing Monopoly today with ds1 ... thought of you Cod!

DS1 has been playing Monopoly with dh recently, and really enjoying it. Tonight dh was out, so I was drafted in as substitute. DS1 was in a very strong position (hotels on Mayfair and thingy, and Old Kent Road pair), but I was incredibly lucky, and ended up in a poised to win position ... and ds1 refused to play any further. He was almost certainly going to lose, but we hadn't actually reached that point.

He was fairly calm about it - didn't throw a temper tantrum or anything - but apparently dh "gives him chances" ... dh obviously lets him win. I'm really cross, I will wring dh's neck when he gets home. In the past ds1 has always been great about playing games to the rules and losing or winning ... Gggrrrrr...

Anyway, how are things with you? Is your ds2 still very competitive?

god.. i have never ever won, or lost a game of monopoly!
i hate it because it's soooooooooooooooo long.. how do you win????

I hate it too It's easier to win/lose with two I think.

The only thing I like about it is we have the Oxford edition, and we used to live there, so the street names bring back memories!

i remember playing with my dad and brother. i used to throw the whole board across the room if it didn't go my way

starlover, they have a monopoly junior version - someone gave it to us for dd's 5th birthday - it doesn't take as long and revolves around buying stalls to put on a fairground (so laid out like a traditional monopoly board but instead of buying houses, you buy stalls and other people pay you entrance fees when they land on one of your stalls).

Both mine love playing games and adore monopoly. Ds is dreadfully competitive and it absolutely drives me mad (I can see the tears starting when he realises he's about to lose!)
