moving house has created the world's most clingy toddler

DS2, generally quite a strong minded little fellow, is 18 months old. He was sleeping through.

We moved house at the weekend which seems to have turned him into an insomniac (45 minutes of screaming in cot before he goes to sleep, waking several times a night and needing to be shushed back to sleep) at nights and a v clingy miserable little limpet during the day. He goes ballistic if he cant see me and knows I'm in the place (which consists of all of 4 rooms!) and gets v jealous of me speaking to other people.

Has anyone else gone through this with their kids and if so, can you remember how long it lasted or if anything you did helped?

Yup! We moved house with 16 month old at the beginning of August, and she really didn't like it. It took a few weeks for her to settle in but we just cuddled her through it, basically - there was lots of carrying from room to room and staying with her until she fell asleep. She's fine now, and just as confident as she used to be in our old house.

Thank you so much Octaviapink - you're giving me hope (and reinstating my will to live!) Last night was awful - he was awake crying every hour or so and up at just before 5 this morning, and wailing as I left the house for work this morning. Poor little lamb.

Yes - she went through a phase of HAVING to be in the same room we were in, but now she's got to grips with it she's fine and the same confident little monster she was before!

Ah, DS2 is clearly cut from the same cloth as your DD. Good to know you all got through it intact. Honestly thank you so much for giving me some hope of light at the end of the tunnel!

We moved house at the end of August with my 28 month old son, he was fine for the first 10 days ( I wonder if he thought we were on holiday), the past 2 weeks or so has been unbearably clingy.

Having a shower is hard work, not sleeping, not napping at lunchtimes. Even clingy at playgroups where he was really confident before.

Hope it passes soon!
