My dd smiled from 2 weeks. DH and the HV thought I was mad until she grinned at them too. She was a very smiley baby. I have the most beautiful picture of her at 2 weeks, still a scrunched up little newborn, just out of the bath, smiling at her Dad.

I think if it continues to happen, yes it's a smile!

I think you can tell if it is a smile by their eyes.Their wee eyes light up too...lovely moment,I'm sure it was a smile!

Whole face changes. Definitely a smile.

One of mine smiled at 2 weeks (in scbu) and i caught it on video. Midwife wouldn't believe me until i showed her the video and then agreed that it did look like a smile. I'm sure your baby smiled Smile

Do you look like you are smiling when you have wind? Thought not. A smile.

DD is 3 weeks and 2 days and this thread has reminded me of all the fab things to come. By now DS was doing full blown colic howling every night so I've just been relishing the quiet cluster feeding. The thought of smiles being round the corner is too lovely for words :)
