just wondering if anyone's heard anything similar. DD1 is 6 and has started saying 'Popping vaginas' as an expression Shock. I'm assuming she's heard it at school because she's sure not heard it at home or on Cbeebies (I hope!). Now dd2 who's 3 is coming out with it as well and it's quite embarrassing at times, especially in public!

I'm not sure how to handle it. Obviously, vagina is not a bad word in and of itself and I have tried to explain it's inappropriate. Part of the trouble is that the image that it brings up makes me want to burst out laughing Confused

I'm just really hoping someone else has heard this one before....I'm too embarrassed to ask in the playground....

I am smirking, never heard it before. It is a strange mixture of a noise and a fanjo. Did you happen to remark to your DH during intercourse that yours had popped and she overheard you.
Seriously though, you must use the word vagina and has she misheard popping and put the two together?
Still smirking I am afraid.

Another smirker here, I'm afraid (bad bad bad mummy).
I'd hear no end of it if that one went around DC school playground.

petelly · 02/10/2010 16:12

Well, yeah, I am very proper about using the word 'vagina' rather than anything else so she's definitely aware of the word. Not sure what inspired her to put it together with popping!

I don't know if it's her invention and if it is, should I be proud or not??? Confused

I am a bit concerned if it IS her invention and it gets around the playground. Hope the other mums don't think we're so kind of weird family with some very odd and probably illegal pastimes Grin . I'll start to get paranoid if she isn't invited to the next party or someone cancels a playdate!!!

I was so hoping someone would come on here and say 'oh yeah, my dd/ds says that too' sigh

OK, off to interrogate dd1 about the exact origins of 'popping vaginas'

Ong shot: is there anyone in your circle who, like my MIL, says "windy pop", fir breaking wind?

onimolap · 02/10/2010 16:37

Sorry about the typos!

Should be "long shot" and "for"....

petelly · 02/10/2010 16:38

OK, problem solved!!

She'd heard it from Molly who apparently heard it from her big brother.

'breathes a sigh of relief'
