Hi
I have a 2 year old daughter that is constantly rubbing against her genital area? She has been doing this for a while. I have tried to distract her but she just continues and we are now at a loss of what else we can do . I dont want to make a huge deal of it but it is starting to get a little out of hand. Any ideas??

Is she newly in knickers?
If you think she would understand you could say "We don't touch ourselves down there when we're out of the house or whereever you are"
If she asks why you can just say that she must only do it at home because its private.

She may not totally understand given that she's only 2 but at least she might get it a bit.

Hopefully its a phase or novelty that she'll loose interest in soon. Or at least learn to only do it at home.

Are you sure she is not sore or itchy? Have you changed the wipes you use to clean her, or any bathing products? My DD does this, but when I check her vulva is rather red. At first this was because I had bought some different wipes. Now it is because she is toilet trained and, being an independent soul, she does not ask the nursery staff to help her wipe. A liberal coating of Bepanthen seems to help.
