Night waking at 23 months?

DD is 23 months old and has been on the Gina Ford routine for a year now - She sleeps 7pm-7am and naps 12:30-2. But for the past week she gets up around 1am and stands up in her cot and talking to herself - at times she wont go back to sleep till about 3am. She doesnt cry when she wakes up, and shes not hungry or sick - and shes pretty happy during the day so I dont think its teething either. She wont go back to sleep herself either - I have to sit by her cot and hold her hand at times.
Another thing - out of all her toys she loves her ball the most - infact its one of the only words she says - when she wakes up she keeps saying Ball Ball Ball!
I'm just a bit confused as to why she would do this now because she's never done this before the whole year she's been on this routine!
Any ideas?
please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya ! I loosely follow Gina Ford's routines (much to my HV's horror!). My son is 7 months, and he sleeps from 6-7, but he naps from 11-1 if that. I think it's important to a)not get into the habit of holding your dd hand, as she will begin to rely on this b)make sure it's dark so when she wakes up she knows it's still "bedtime" c)look at her diet, especially her last meal before bed, and make sure there's nothing that contains sugar or aspartame (artificial crap they put instead of sugar) d)analyse her naps in the day, try cutting them by 30 minutes.
I think Gina Ford is a genius, but I think that her routine needs to be applied to the child and not the child to the routine! Best of luck.
