He is such a big boy - he was one on Sunday 4th September and these are his stats:

Weight: 14.5kgs/32lbs
Head Circ: 50cms
Height: 89cms

The paediatrician says he is one the bigger babies he has seen in a while - he is not fat just a really big tall boy - he predicts that he is going to be 2.05m (unreliable I know but what a thought).

So proud of my little man - he is walking, says 4/5 words and is so happy.

Goodness DJ, he is big! DS last month (at 9 months) was

23lbs
72cms

His head circ was on the 25th centile, although I can't remember the measurement.

I thought he was big!

He's going to be a big strapping lad!

Goodness, ds is 2.5 and only 1cm taller and a whole kilo lighter. He has an enormous head though.

dejags · 06/09/2005 09:45

I know Bobby - it's probably going to cause issues in the next couple of months because people will expect him to be more advanced than he is. We had this to a degree with DS1 who wasn't nearly as big as DS2.

Not sure where my kids come from, I am 1.65m, average build and was a tiny baby. DH is 1.93m, petite build and comes from a family of shorties.

dejags, i had the same hassles with my DS. He was talking clearly at 10 months but he didn't walk until a week after his first birthday. But he too was very big. About the same as you lil man. when he was 14 months old i had him strapped in his buggy and he was chatting away to me then asked for his bottle "Mummy i want my bot bot". I had a woman at the bus stop look at me and say... "well i think by his age he should be out of a pram and walking and certainly shouldn't have a bottle, is there something worng with him"
I said "No he is only 14 months old" well she didn't believe me and went into one about single mums and lying ffs.... I was not very happy and told her so, I then got his red book out and shoved it in her face lol i had had 35 minutes of crap from her by this point. Sadly the comments didn't stop there as he continued to grow rapidly lol. He is now 7 and is in clothes for 10-11 yr olds but as you said not fat just big and tall.
Even now people think he is older especially when he opens his mouth to talk lol

thats awful Vaunda, I had some simlar incidents with DS1 but was never verbally challenged regarding his age.

It seems a shame the big babies have to mature quicker in order to keep up with the same sized peers.

wow my dd is 3 next month and is just 86 cms and 24lbs..
ds was very tall too, 108cms on his 2nd birthday!

Kidstrack2 · 06/09/2005 14:20

I had a big boy too he is now 6 and yes people do expect more of them, when ds sat in his buggy people would comment, he was only 2.7 for goodness sake! But on the otherhand dd was slightly smaller for her age and people would think oh shes really clever and then I would have to say well actually she is 2! It s a shame sometimes when this happens!

CarlyP · 06/09/2005 14:23

my 9mth old is 80cm and 26lb

my 20mth old is 91cm and 34lb

DEjags, It is terrible that people don't ask first before commenting. When DS first started in reception class at school i had to get 2 buses to get him there, every morning i was challenged by the driver for proof of his age. I was so glad when i moved closer to his school and had no need to get a bus. lol

goodness dejags, ds2 (2.5) has only just had to pay to get into the theme park where you have to be 90cms!
You have got a very tall boy there!
(agree with others re high expectations of strangers - a friend's ds is very tall for his age and at 3 would be taken easily for a reception class pupil - "until he opens his mouth" as his dad said!)

Happy Birthday for your DS dejags!!

DS is one next week. No idea about his stats as that would entail speaking to the HV I think he's about 80cm and 25 lbs. Little tike won't stand still to be measured though!

What did you do for a party? Are you off on your trip soon?

alexsmum · 09/09/2005 10:28

wow that is big! my ds2 is just 2 and is 33lb and 89 cms and he seems big!!!!!! wow, you are obviously doing a fab job !
