moving from stokke sleepi to big bed - advice?

Not sure whether to take a side off the stokke sleepi, or just go ahead a buy a big bed and explain that this is where she will sleep when she is ready.

Also, any advice on which bed to get? someone mentioned a sheet with an air pillow that goes on the open side so they feel safe and less likely to fall out. Do you know what this is called/where to find it?

Have only just started thinking about this today so apols if there are already millions of threads.

DD is 2, I was planning to move her at around 27/28 months, her speech is coming on really well so should be fine to explain the concept of the bed to her etc.

also can anyone recommend a good first bed with storage?

I think we will just get a single bed with drawers but will consider a novelty kiddie type bed also.

DD1 was in her Sleepi until she was about 2.9. We didn't bother taking the side off, just moved her straight into full sized single bed.

I was thinking about getting either a bed guard or the Dusky Moon dream tube which sounds like the product you are describing. In the end we just put the mattress from the cot by the side of her bed. She (touch wood) hasn't fallen out once. She was very excited about getting a big girl bed and the move from cot to bed was very straight forward. HTH
