Completely normal to not babble until a lot older, just try to relax and enjoy your baby, it will happen when they are ready.

I wouldn't be. My son didn;t say much at that age. He was 2 last week and I can't shut him up! I think the yard stick is 50 words at 2. He seems to be picking new words up daily now.

The first "mamama" is sweet. The hundreth "MUUUMEEE" of the day is a little grating!

do you know he can hear?
my ds did not babble at all and only started talking late (first words at 1.5y). we had his hearing checked which was fine. now at 3.9y he is talking all day long in two languages.

Stop worrying! Smile

7 months is very young.

Lots of babies don't babble, it's nothing to worry about.

My DS was a silent baby. He didn't babble or say a word until he was gone 18 months and could talk in two word sentences.

Hi, yes he can hear fine. He turns when his name is called and reacts to noises etc. I was just concerned as my friends six month old girl says mum mum mum all the time. He does make some sounds and blows rasberries but no talking!

I don't think a six month old saying mum mum mum is talking - she's just making a noise that happens to be a word.

My baby was late to babble too. I posted a thread very similar to this one when she was 10 months old. She's now 13 months and much more interested in babbling and seems to be saying a few words with meaning too. She is very active and mobile and just seemed to be concentrating on zooming about rather than talking.
